Established on Likoma Island in 2006, katundu is a community-based home decorating workshop.
Aiming to empower women through artisan training and ethical employment, around 75% of the 32 permanent team artists are women.
Originally focusing on linen textiles such as hand beaded cushion covers, table runners and bed throws, then the collection has now expanded to include organic interior items, wall arts and unique lighting items.
In order to minimise the environmental impact, the new collection uses mainly recycled, sustainable and natural materials.
Each piece is lovingly crafted by hand using waste materials such as tumbled recycled glass, locally sourced clay beads, grey seed and baobab twine, and repurposed old copper and wire.
All products can be customised according to your wishes, including size, colour and shape adjustments.
When you are in Likoma, visit the workshop and see this refined craftsmanship.
They also offer delivery service and have an online store.
