“A mask used on Gule Wamkulu dance represents the Chewa culture and as an artist it’s up to me to portray that.“
When I create art, my aim is to change people’s mind when it comes to art. Many Malawians have a negative mind-set towards art so my aim is to make people be interested in my art.
Yes, my mentor is Elizabeth Baile.
They can buy my art from Cape Maclear by getting in touch me through my phone number.
My favourite part about creating art is that I use recycled wood to save the environment.
My art has improved in terms of talent as compared to my previous work. I have gotten better and hope to continue improving.
The art in Malawi is relevant to our culture. For example, a mask used on Gule Wamkulu dance represents the Chewa culture and as an artist it’s up to me to portray that. As artists we can also use the visual depictions of animals that have gone extinct so that the younger generation can know what these animals looked like.
Yes, I am satisfied because many people like my art since it is unique. I enjoy having quality products, which I can sell outside the country. I want my business to be well known and to be advertised online. I wish I could have a permanent place where I sell my art so that clients can find me easily.
I would like to collaborate with my younger brother.
