Basic Information about Nkhotakota Pottery
Nkhotakota Pottery Lodge is located on the lakeshore in Nkhondwe, 15km South of Nkhotakota town and managed by Germans since 2016.
The lodge offers 4 standard and 6 superior rooms next to 200m of a long sandy beach.
The Pottery is an off-shoot of the more famous Dedza Pottery and was opened in 1998.
It provides a variety of pottery courses from a few hours to three weeks.
The two to three-week courses include an opportunity to meet and learn from local Malawian potters.
The first courses were held in 2001 and are now popular with tourists from over ten different countries.
Visitors can also see potters at work and buy items from the shop.
